I've been using Ghirardelli Sweet Ground Chocolate since I started baking/cooking 47 years ago, as did my Grandmother before me. I can't imagine using anything else. When a recipe calls for Cocoa, I always use Ghirardelli. This is the best instant hot chocolate out there. It taste just like homemade - even better than some of those fancy coffee shops. It is a very rich hot chocolate and doesn't give that watered down taste. I now have a very hard time drinking anything else besides this. I found this sauce to be underwhelming in flavor, all sweetness with a less than lovely aftertaste. I tried smaller and smaller amounts in my espresso and could never get a comparable result to using the ghiradelli chips. Also, the companion pump didn't keep it's prime and had to be pumped several times to be reprimed every day and so the amount released was inconsistent which made it difficult to "measure" easily. (1 pump, 1/2 pump, etc)

I go through about a pound of unsweetened cocoa powder per month just eating it by the tablespoon as a snack and I'm so glad I found this. Even though it's lightly Dutched with a ph of 6.8, this dark reddish brown cocoa is really chocolatey and noticeably acidic. I used to buy a mocha frappe every single day at my local coffee shop. Needless to say, it was expensive. I had tried many different ways of making it at home and none of them worked until this product. The consistency of it is perfect and it doesn't melt before I'm done drinking it. Just like the ones I get at the cofffee shop, it stays thick until the very last drop. The chocolatey flavor is perfection in my opinion... and I'm very picky, having tasted many of these over the years.
Also, one of the problems that I used to have trying to make mocha frappe's at home was that the ice would never get very well blended because my blender is a cheaper one, and I couldn't afford to buy a nice one like those in coffee shops that cost hundreds of dollars. With Ghirardelli frappe mix I don't have that problem anymore. Even with a cheaper blender all the ice gets perfectly blended.

We received this as a gift one year and boy, this stuff is awesome! I had to get used to making it with water, which normally is bland to me over the milk I normally use, but not su with this stuff. It's a great rich, chocolate taste but it is not bitter either. Try putting those Coffeemate creamers in it too - especially the mint and the carmel selections. Golly!
