This Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark chocolate has 3 component to it which makes it taste very interesting as you take a bite at it. Chocolate layer (available in milk or dark or 60% dark), white chocolate layer, and peppermint crust. It's kind of unorthodox to use peppermint (or replace mint) with chocolate (as you might be tired of the peppermint candy cane), but they didn't put too much peppermint crust so it is good. but enough to give the kick of the mint taste (and mintier than the regular mint chocolate)
If you like mint or peppermint, there is a good chance that you will like this peppermint bark chocolate (maybe not at the first bite). This is perfect for the holiday time, after dinner and dessert.
I like the Dark Chocolate version compare to the Milk chocolate version because the white chocolate layer is already milky and sweet, as well as the peppermint crust, so the dark chocolate will give more balance and reduce the overall sweetness of this chocolate

if this coffee tasted like it smelled, i'd pay out the nose for it. the truth is that this coffee doesn't really taste so wonderful. It smells fantastic. I buy the whole bean and my krups grinder/coffee maker goes off at 4am and the smell gets me out of bed with a smile!!! The actual coffee taste is a let down. You'd probably get a better chocolate/caramel flavor for a lot less by letting a rolo melt in your folgers and stirring it up. While not the absolute best cocoa I've used, Ghiradelli is one of the finest that is readily available. I recommend using it as a matter of course instead of the ubiquitous Hershey's, which has a harsher flavor. This cocoa is mild yet rich in flavor, smooth tasting. I use it all the time for baking, and people notice the difference, even if they don't understand why my brownies are better than average.

I've been using Ghirardelli Sweet Ground Chocolate since I started baking/cooking 47 years ago, as did my Grandmother before me. I can't imagine using anything else. When a recipe calls for Cocoa, I always use Ghirardelli. Oh, sure. It's terrific in cookies but, if you really want a treat, try using Ghirardelli's Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips to make a truly delicious hot chocolate!
You can take 1/4 cup of chips and melt them in a microwave in 1/2 cup milk. Stir. Then add another 1/2 cup milk, although the truly decadent will use half-and-half. Add a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of chili powder (yeah, you heard me), and two pinches of instant coffee. Wow!!
Ghirardelli has been making exceptional chocolate in the USA for over 150 years. They take it from the beans all the way to the finished product. Their chocolates are smooth (not grainy). Very nice!

I'm amazed at how lovely this new product from Ghirardelli Chocolate is and how well it melts, even in the microwave; just be careful to watch and not let it burn because it continues melting even after the heat source is stopped. I had seen it online for $7 a bag, so was thrilled to see Amazon offer it for a great price and since I share my goodies, this is a no-brainer. For the past couple months, I've been immersed in baking, particularly chocolate goods, and I've been surprised at the easy flourless chocolate cake recipes I've discovered. My friends all agree that the last one I baked using this chocolate ranks among the best of late. I've also baked wonderful chocolate 3 layer bar cookies after substituting the home dried cherries and finely chopped pecans for the recipe's raisins and walnuts. Just had one with a cup of tea and the chocolate radiates and enhances the cherry flavor. I prefer using unsweetened chocolate in baking because I can add my own organic sugar instead of the refined sugar usually used in sweetened chocolate, even bittersweet. This chocolate is so easy to work with for making homemade molded chocolates. We have used it for years for our traditional chocolate making at Christmas. It melts easily in the microwave, and it molds beautifully. The molded chocolates have a nice shine and a crisp bite. I was very disappointed when I could not find it locally, so hurray for Amazon. I don't think it gets much better than this for a good cup of hot chocolate. I do recommend heating the milk on the stove, though. Bring it to scalding and then add the chocolate pieces. Use a whisk and add a dollop of whip cream to be really decadent. Down side: seems like they could put more in the can, it's only about 2/3 full, and it's a little pricey. Easy to use and good flavor. This product is a fine white powder, with clearly visible sugar crystals, that mixes very easily with the espresso and frothed milk for our white chocolate mochas. Product has a good flavor when mixed according to directions: not too sweet. Be aware, this is a flavored powder, probably not white chocolate at all, because it contains no cocoa butter, which I believe is used to make white chocolate. White chocolate isn't chocolate at all. The first three ingredients of this product are sugar, partially hydrogenated coconut oil, and corn syrup solids. You decide whether the price for this is a good value, or whether this is really a white chocolate product or, as the label states, "SWEET GROUND WHITE CHOCOLATE" followed by the very important word, in smaller print, "FLAVOR." I bought this when the pack of 6 cans Amazon offers was unavailable, because we're not sure life is worth living without Ghiradelli chocolate in our morning coffee, and Amazon's prices are so much more reasonable than those in local stores. I was worried about the can size - but the three-pound is really just as convenient - it barely takes up more space than the one-pound cans on my kitchen counter. I loved the packaging of this product. It gives that festive OMPH to the yummy ghirardelli squares. The ornament is totally reusable and it's really sturdy. So I can see it being used for years to come.
Of the 3 packs, I gave one to my mother-in-law who loves chocolates and xmas oranments (double brownie points!), one to my postman (he loves them), and used the remaining one for my office gift exchange. everyone exclaimed over how adorable the packaging was.

My two favorite flavors of Ghirardelli chocolate squares are these Dark Chocolate with Caramel and the Dark Chocolate with Raspberry, but these are the best in my opinion. I find the chocolate to be very firm and the caramel to be very creamy, less sweet than others I've had. They are as pleasant as many creme caramels I have had, the burnt sugar flavor coming through. Some of the squares actually were broken with the filling oozing out, but I rather enjoyed these as long as they didn't stick to the wrappers. I'm not fond of licking the candy off the wrapper and discard those. For this reason, I cannot give these a 5 star review. I find that the wrappers are very easy to remove by simply tearing down the center seam and the confection can easily be popped into the mouth or nibbled while holding onto the chocolate inside the half wrapper. These are especially good with a cup of strong coffee. I have found that young children who like milk chocolate and/or candy bars were not fond of these. I'm certainly not a confections expert, but I do love chocolate, and especially raspberry chocolates of all types and varieties. I can honestly say that these Ghirardelli raspberry filled chocolates are some of the best I've ever had, and are easily the best widely available in the US. I have had better (an Italian import that I cannot remember the name of), but they weren't that much better.
As another reviewer noted, the filling does contain actual raspberry seeds, and while some might not like that, I personally enjoy it. It lets me know that the filling I am consuming is made from real raspberries, not some boiled down concentrate with artificial flavors.
These are slightly expensive, but their worth the price in my opinion. Not too sweet, not too gummy, perfect served alongside coffee or as a petite desert after a meal. They also go well with a dark chocolate cake or brownie and ice cream.

These have an excellent flavor but the mint filling is very runny. It is not easy to eat one of these without mint dripping onto your clothes or at the very least turning your hands into a sticky mess. Not really sure what I expected, but since I like Ghirardelli chocolate, and I like hot chocolate and hot mochas from coffee shops, I thought I'd like this product.
Unfortunately, despite following the directions and making this in milk, it's not as rich and satifying as I hoped. I hate to say it, but I think Swiss Miss mixed Instant coffee tastes better than this.

First, let it be known I'm a chocoholic and long time Ghiradelli lover. I always have a gigantic bag of their 60% cacao chips on hand for snacking on and baking with. I also enjoy the Ghiridelli shop in the gas light area of San Diego when there on business. Mama mia that place smells so delicious!
