Mix:
2oz espresso brewed with 1 pod (not quite as strong, but more economical than brewing 1.5 oz using 2 pods)
3T Ghirardelli white chocolate powder
Add:
Whole milk to your desired dilution (I add about 10oz)
Top with ice and, if desired, whipped cream.

I have been using this mix for years and have tried many others. This is by far the best mix out there for chocolate chip cookies, it has the right texture, it doesn't taste artificial in any way and the combination of brown sugar and butter along with the ghirardelli chips is fantastic. I bought these for baking and it is a miracle that I am able to do so since everyone in the house seems to nibble on them here and there. They are easy to bake with, melt quickly, have a wonderful taste and if you manage to hide them somewhere in the fridge where your family won't find them, they will keep quite well for several weeks. I love dark chocolates, the darker the better. However unlike the many other Ghirardelli dark chocolates this one isn't good.
The chocolate itself doesn't melt smooth, has bad mouth feel, and is absolutely flavorless. The chocolate actually reminds me of the poor tasting choco-bits in some ice creams, just waxy and lacking of flavor. And it doesn't even taste the same as their regular 60% chocolate. If Ghirardelli would have used the same chocolate as their other filled delights then it would actually taste really good.
The caramel filling is the only redeeming quality of the chocolate. Smooth, full flavored, and not overly sticky (like some chocolate makers tend to use).
Overall this is a poor quality chocolate that is waxy and flavorless with the only good thing being the caramel filling. Ghirardelli really dropped the ball on this one and am a bit surprised that they allowed it out on the market.
My recommendation, buy a different flavor or brand, this is definitely not Ghirardelli at their best.

I bought this sauce at my local Smart & Final to make my Iced White Mocha's I LOVE so much. I would normally spend $4 for a venti white mocha and my husband decided to get me my own Espresso Machine. Well I was excited and ready to go with my clear plastic cups and lids and my white chocolate sauce. Unfortunately, this was just awful. I knew it wasn't going to be good when I poured the sauce and it was a transparent yellowish tone, not the thick white sauce I normally see the barista squirt into my cup. So I poured it back into the bottle thinking I needed to shake it up but it didn't change. It tasted awful. Even my 4 yr old son who enjoys white mocha's with me all the time (Decaf,of course) didnt want anything to do with it. Thankfully my 6 yr old who hasn't had as many white mocha's as my son and I gave it a thumbs up so hopefully she can finish off this stuff so its not a complete waste. if this coffee tasted like it smelled, i'd pay out the nose for it. the truth is that this coffee doesn't really taste so wonderful. It smells fantastic. I buy the whole bean and my krups grinder/coffee maker goes off at 4am and the smell gets me out of bed with a smile!!! The actual coffee taste is a let down. While not the absolute best cocoa I've used, Ghiradelli is one of the finest that is readily available. I recommend using it as a matter of course instead of the ubiquitous Hershey's, which has a harsher flavor. This cocoa is mild yet rich in flavor, smooth tasting. I use it all the time for baking, and people notice the difference, even if they don't understand why my brownies are better than average.

I've been using Ghirardelli Sweet Ground Chocolate since I started baking/cooking 47 years ago, as did my Grandmother before me. I can't imagine using anything else. When a recipe calls for Cocoa, I always use Ghirardelli. Oh, sure. It's terrific in cookies but, if you really want a treat, try using Ghirardelli's Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips to make a truly delicious hot chocolate!
You can take 1/4 cup of chips and melt them in a microwave in 1/2 cup milk. Stir. Then add another 1/2 cup milk, although the truly decadent will use half-and-half. Add a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of chili powder (yeah, you heard me), and two pinches of instant coffee. Wow!!
Ghirardelli has been making exceptional chocolate in the USA for over 150 years. They take it from the beans all the way to the finished product. Their chocolates are smooth (not grainy). Very nice!

I'm amazed at how lovely this new product from Ghirardelli Chocolate is and how well it melts, even in the microwave; just be careful to watch and not let it burn because it continues melting even after the heat source is stopped. I had seen it online for $7 a bag, so was thrilled to see Amazon offer it for a great price and since I share my goodies, this is a no-brainer. For the past couple months, I've been immersed in baking, particularly chocolate goods, and I've been surprised at the easy flourless chocolate cake recipes I've discovered. My friends all agree that the last one I baked using this chocolate ranks among the best of late. I've also baked wonderful chocolate 3 layer bar cookies after substituting the home dried cherries and finely chopped pecans for the recipe's raisins and walnuts. Just had one with a cup of tea and the chocolate radiates and enhances the cherry flavor. I prefer using unsweetened chocolate in baking because I can add my own organic sugar instead of the refined sugar usually used in sweetened chocolate, even bittersweet. This chocolate is so easy to work with for making homemade molded chocolates. We have used it for years for our traditional chocolate making at Christmas. It melts easily in the microwave, and it molds beautifully. The molded chocolates have a nice shine and a crisp bite. I was very disappointed when I could not find it locally, so hurray for Amazon. Product perfect, like to eat them out of the bag. I love Ghirardelli chocolates: for eating, baking and now for drinking. This product is an intense, creamy, chocolatey powder mix that you can make using hot water for a rich chocolate drink, or make it with milk for an extra creamy taste. It's great to take with you when you're away from home (it also comes in pre-measured packets that you can mix into 8oz of hot water), or keep it at work, or in your dorm room for that quick chocolate break.

I don't think it gets much better than this for a good cup of hot chocolate. I do recommend heating the milk on the stove, though. Bring it to scalding and then add the chocolate pieces. Use a whisk and add a dollop of whip cream to be really decadent. Down side: seems like they could put more in the can, it's only about 2/3 full, and it's a little pricey. Easy to use and good flavor. This product is a fine white powder, with clearly visible sugar crystals, that mixes very easily with the espresso and frothed milk for our white chocolate mochas. Product has a good flavor when mixed according to directions: not too sweet. Be aware, this is a flavored powder, probably not white chocolate at all, because it contains no cocoa butter, which I believe is used to make white chocolate. White chocolate isn't chocolate at all. The first three ingredients of this product are sugar, partially hydrogenated coconut oil, and corn syrup solids. You decide whether the price for this is a good value, or whether this is really a white chocolate product or, as the label states, "SWEET GROUND WHITE CHOCOLATE" followed by the very important word, in smaller print, "FLAVOR." It tasted like bitter coffee with bad flavoring. It didn't taste anything like hot chocolate. It wasn't even white but a light tan color. I bought this when the pack of 6 cans Amazon offers was unavailable, because we're not sure life is worth living without Ghiradelli chocolate in our morning coffee, and Amazon's prices are so much more reasonable than those in local stores. I was worried about the can size - but the three-pound is really just as convenient - it barely takes up more space than the one-pound cans on my kitchen counter. (Granted, if I were keeping it in a cabinet, it would be a tighter fit - but still, it's not as bulky as one might expect.) And the chocolate, of course, is wonderful. Ghiradelli makes the best!
