I've been using Ghirardelli Sweet Ground Chocolate since I started baking/cooking 47 years ago, as did my Grandmother before me. I can't imagine using anything else. When a recipe calls for Cocoa, I always use Ghirardelli. To return it, with shipping 2 ways, would cost more than the product price.

This is the best instant hot chocolate out there. It taste just like homemade - even better than some of those fancy coffee shops. It is a very rich hot chocolate and doesn't give that watered down taste. I now have a very hard time drinking anything else besides this. I found this sauce to be underwhelming in flavor, all sweetness with a less than lovely aftertaste. I tried smaller and smaller amounts in my espresso and could never get a comparable result to using the ghiradelli chips. Also, the companion pump didn't keep it's prime and had to be pumped several times to be reprimed every day and so the amount released was inconsistent which made it difficult to "measure" easily. (1 pump, 1/2 pump, etc)

I go through about a pound of unsweetened cocoa powder per month just eating it by the tablespoon as a snack and I'm so glad I found this. Even though it's lightly Dutched with a ph of 6.8, this dark reddish brown cocoa is really chocolatey and noticeably acidic. The word "Superior" is actually part of the product name rather than simply a descriptive. Ghirardelli's natural cocoa is called "Merritas" ( ph 5.5 ) and "Sunrise" is more heavily Dutched ( ph 7.5 ). [...] I think this cocoa will work nicely in any capacity, from baking to hot cocoa.
